FAQ

The Corridor Gallery FAQs

Is there a limit on file sizes for digital media submitted?

If it fits in an email, it should be fine.

How many items may I submit?
The sky’s the limit, really. Just be aware that The Corridor Gallery at Riverview reserves the right to choose only some or none of the submissions.

How should I submit my webpage or website?
Email the URL of your website to Kristie@RivVenue.com. Be sure to specify which works you are submitting for review.

How long will my art be displayed?
From three to six months, depending on the exhibition in question.

Is Riverview responsible for damage to artwork in the gallery?
Artists whose work is selected for display in the gallery will need to sign our Artist’s Agreement, which releases Riverview Church from responsibility for any damage to artwork while it in is our care. Please understand that The Corridor Gallery is located in a high-traffic area that is often unsupervised. Although we’ve never had artwork damaged, it is a possibility.

How will art submissions be evaluated?
All artwork will be assessed for quality, originality, and potential to enhance the collection exhibited by the gallery. Artists may vary in terms of age, education, and experience; these factors will not affect acceptance of artwork. We seek pieces that are of interest and acceptable for viewing by all age groups. Pieces will be reviewed for their appropriateness for a community setting.

How should art be dropped off, and how will it be returned?
Artwork selected for display should be dropped off at Riverview during it’s regular business hours (9:00 am - 3:00 pm on Monday; 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Tuesday through Friday), or at another time determined by emailing Kristie@RivVenue.com or calling the Riverview office at 517-694-3400. It should packed in such a way that it will be safe to store until it is hung, and framed if appropriate or otherwise ready to hang. The artist is responsible for picking up his or her work when the exhibition is finished.

Can I post the cost for my artwork in The Corridor Gallery if my work is selected?
Riverview is not responsible for facilitating sales of artwork. Artists’ whose work is selected may choose to have their email address or phone number listed in case someone is interested in purchasing the work. Artists also have the option of donating the sale of their artwork to Riverview Church’s Compassion Ministry (go to here to learn more).

Do I need to submit an artist’s statement for my work if it is selected?
If the exhibition in question features multiple artists (more than three), The Corridor Gallery will display a very brief (175 words or less) statement with each piece if the artist wishes. If the exhibition features three or less artists, each artist may submit a statement of up to 1,000 words, which we will display and provide copies of for people to take home.

Our hanging system can support up to forty-five pounds per piece. Artwork must not be any deeper than ten inches, or taller or wider than six feet. All artwork must have picture wire or  large hooks for hanging installed before being dropped off.
